Today I want to share one of the simplest—and most powerful—practices that has supported my emotional wellbeing through all seasons of life: gratitude.

Whether I’m riding the waves of growth, navigating grief, or somewhere in between, gratitude always brings me back home to myself.

My Morning Gratitude Ritual

Every morning before I reach for my phone or dive into the day’s to-do list—hell, before I even take off my sleep mask and open my eyes—I take a few deep breaths and silently list three (or more) things I’m grateful for.

Sometimes they’re big:
My health
My clients
My most meaningful relationships

Other times, it’s the little things that ground me:
The softness of my sheets
The sound of birds outside my window
The morning light streaming across the wall

I often think to myself, “Thank you, God, for ____,” but sometimes I simply say, “I’m so grateful for ____.” However it comes out, the energy of it shifts me every time.

This might sound simple—but over time, this small, daily ritual has been an absolute game changer.

Why Gratitude Works

(Even on the Messy Days)

Here’s what this practice has done for me—and what it can do for you, too:

Regulates your nervous system
Shifts your mindset from lack to abundance
Builds emotional resilience during hard seasons
Deepens joy and connection in the present moment

And here’s the truth: this isn’t just woo-woo feel-good fluff. Gratitude literally rewires your brain. This is real neuroscience. The more we practice it, the more our brains are trained to seek out the good—even when life feels messy or uncertain.

How to Start a Daily Gratitude Practice

If you’re ready to try it out, here are some simple ways to begin:

📝 Journal it – Keep a small notebook by your bed and write down 3–5 things you’re grateful for each evening.

Habit stack – Attach your gratitude practice to something you already do, like sipping your morning coffee or brushing your teeth.

💬 Share it – Text a friend or partner something you appreciate about them today.

🧘‍♀️ Integrate it into your rituals – Reflect on gratitude during breathwork, prayer, a walk in nature, or meditation.

📷 Snap it – Start a “gratitude photo album” on your phone. Snap a quick pic of something that brings you joy each day.

No matter how you choose to practice, let it be easy. Let it be yours.
